Our Approach

Why digiTIES?

Established in 1993 in Philadelphia, Pa, The Islamic Education School (TIES) has been a community cornerstone serving families and their children, preparing students to achieve their fullest potential for success in this life and the hereafter. The birth of sister campuses in Davie, Fl and Anaheim, Ca extended our non-profit service model to multiple communities. Fast-forward nearly 30 years, we’re proud to offer a virtual option for families wherever they are in the world.

We cater to a diverse group of learners, representing students from all over the 50 states as well as international students.  We are a private non-profit virtual school. Our classes and coursework provide rigor and high academic standards for students to discover, explore, grow and develop their intrinsic motivation to achieve academic and extracurricular success in an Islamically sound environment.

digiTIES offers international students and families living abroad a quality Islamically sound education no matter where they live. Our international families appreciate the continuity in learning digiTIES provides regardless of where their travels take them. The digiTIES approach to academics means we can adapt to challenges arising from time zone changes and relocation needs.

Mission

Our mission is to protect the character of today’s Muslim youth, shape them into life-long learners, future leaders, and selfless members of society by raising them in a safe, culturally diverse, well-rounded academic environment founded on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi was sallam.

Role of Parents

The role of the parent—or the family learning coach—is to provide organization and structure, ensure that their child has an appropriate learning environment to study in, and promote consistency in the learning process. Family learning coaches help to sustain a successful academic experience for their children by ensuring they attend classes and complete assignments, communicate consistently with teachers, and partner with the digiTIES team in planning individualized learning plans.

Online Learning

Being engaged in the learning process is key. It's important to recognize that learning is not simply logging in to a live or asynchronous class and sitting passively watching the screen. The quality of time spent in classes and on classwork is key. Students need to come to class prepared, self-motivated to focus and participate, and ready to devote energy and time on the subject. Students need support at home to nurture and develop the focus, attention, and motivation to stay on top of their studies.

In a Home Setting

To help your child learn successfully at home, it's important to have a dedicated learning space free from distractions. Turning off the TV, minimizing in-home noises, and having school items organized in an inviting way all help establish that this space is for learning. Along with a quiet dedicated space, having a written schedule to follow, visual reminders, and checklists to keep due dates organized are all ways to support being a successful online learner.
